Get a Clue: Eddy's Morning Routine

Welcome to my newest experiment ya'll. lol

So I've been yammering about doing another comic for ages, inspired by an idea that I concocted up four years ago and kind of made it more solid last summer. It wasn't until a month or two ago that I really wanted to jump into this.

Get a Clue is really for self fulfilment (
I know I've said that before), because I just want to finish something. So instead of this being an epic story, I could really end it with just this first page alone. Every "act" has an ending, the story's true ending is when these kids grow up. But like I said, I have it scripted so that I can stop anytime and know that I finished SOMETHING. I'm still on a quest to improve, so I'm constantly pushing myself to get better artwise.

Anyway. =D I'm happy with how this turned out. I know this page seems random (and I had this specific scene in my head for a whole year lol) but I really wanted to show just how goofy Eddy is. I love him. Okay, that's it. I'd like to get started on the next act now.

P.S, I show my progress on this comic by a little bar if you look to the left. 100% means 10 acts have been finished. THE ULTIMATE ACCOMPLISHMENT. Can I do it? =O

The Post that never Was

Okay...

Truth comes out. If any of you saw the last post I made last night, try to wipe it out your minds. I caved into pressure on that one and it showed. That was the most...ugh, horrible looking drawings I've done in a long time. It was almost effortless, it was just wrong looking and it was sloppy.

I didn't care.

But after sleeping on it and getting critique from a friend about, I know I've could have done better. I do realize that drawing minimalistic cartoon drawings are harder than I thought. I give credit to those who do that for a living. Regardless, for my show I'll be replacing that dance picture with the one I've done of Maggy before. The show must go on literally. I doubt I'll get started on my solitude picture though.

I'm tired. I'm done.

So, after this week of prepping for my art show, yes, THE TRUTH COMES OUT. I've been drawing all these pics for an art show my friend and I are throwing. Anyway, after this week, I'm taking a two week break from drawing and then getting started on what I want to do (see The Homework that Never ends, post). Sooo, as always, I never leave a post without a picture.

Here's a trial comic page that I did, that spurned the idea of what I'm working on now. Except now is better.

Mother and Child

Man...

I'm so done with this pic. Hahaha. I had so much trouble with it from beginning to end. My scanner decided to die right after I refined the sketch so I had to basically redo the whole thing on the computer. Good lords. I've been fighting with this picture ever since. And well...here you have it.

I'll refine it a little more before I print it out, but yeah. I'm done cooking this thing.

Mother and child was a hard one. I had a couple of ideas before I settled on this one. Should I just have a pregnant mother, should I show baby? Should I go with the cliche of mom feeding baby? But then I said, Mother and Child...how about an older child waiting excitedly with mom to have baby. And there you have it.

Okay, my work is never done. I have two...three more left to do. Graaaah. The month of May is not being very nice to me. *shakes fist* BLAST YOU SCANNER FOR DYING ON ME!

Draw the Line

Where do you draw the line?

Finally done. I wanted a simple look for this and I achieved. HEY!

And of course, obligated SPARKLIES! I have a few more to go...

Enjoy! Later taters~

The Homework Never Ends

Remember "Flash" from my post last summer? Well here he is again, better looking (with practice lol) and with a better name. It's Eddy now. I don't know if he'll keep the name Flash later on though.

Anyway, since I worked so hard on the character, looks like that means he's a keeper right? I won't say much, since this is just a study of him. My main problem is consistency. He looks different everytime I draw him, grrr. But I love his range of expressions. He's fun to doodle.

Hopefully soon, I'll get around to drawing his twin sister Solo (formally known as Cola...what?).

Month of May is crunch time for me when it comes to getting more pictures done. I'll explain later. So I hope to post more and not be so doggone slow. Alright, more work.

Later taters!

Release

I learned a couple of things from this.
  1. Me and traditional mediums STILL don't get along
  2. I need to plan my pictures out better than this.
Well, I can honestly say it started off good, but it blew up in my face towards the end. It also doesn't help that I can't scan it properly. One of these days I'm just going to play with my scanner until I get it right.

Oh well. =( You win some, you lose some, but it took me far too long to finish this pic to just let it sit and collect dust. I'll try again. And again, and again. Haha.

Busy as always. Probably more than ever. Seriously could use a break right now. But I press on.

Later taters.
